Los Osos Valley Road / US 101
The current Los Osos Valley Road (LOVR) interchange at US 101 was built at the southern end of San Luis Obispo in 1962. As the city and population has grown, the interchange has endured wear and tear to the point of needing structural repair and widening to provide safer driving conditions for its users.
With construction scheduled to start in the fall of 2014, this project will correct operational deficiencies and improve safety, widen the LOVR overcrossing and widen the adjacent bridge crossing San Luis Obispo Creek. It will provide improved pedestrian and bicycle access along both sides of LOVR, construct drainage improvements and reconstruct all four on and off ramps. A separate landscaping project will follow the completion of construction (late 2016) further enhancing the southern "entryway" to our beautiful central coast city!
The City of San Luis Obispo is the project sponsor and implementing agency of this $17 million project. It will also provide the privately designed plans and administer the construction phase. Caltrans will provide oversight during the life of the project for improvements within State right-of-way.
